Topic: Used to.

Used to is a modal verb that we use to talk about things that happened in past, but are not happening in present. In other words, used to is used to talk about repeated actions in past.

Used to = Solía, solías, solían, solíamos (Dependiendo del subject)

Look at the following examples:

David used to play soccer when he was a kid. / David solía jugar futbol cuando era niño.
Carmen used to play the guitar long time ago. / Carmen solía tocar la guitarra hace mucho tiempo.
The teacher used to live in that house / El profesor solía vivir en esa casa

Have you noticed something curious about used to?
YES, used to always is placed before a verb in base form.

So, used to has 3 different forms

  • POSITIVE FORM +
  • NEGATIVE FOR - 
  • INTERROGATIVE FORM ?

*You use the auxiliary DID NOT / DIDN'T
*Because we are using DID, you have to write USE TO not USED TO

You will study this topic next year, but in most of the cases you only will study the positive form of used to, try to do your best and learn the negative and interrogative form of used to, it will be useful for you and if you are able to learn this topic, you will rock next year!

Topic: Writing paragraphs about tourist attractions 

This time we will put into practice every topic that we have studied to write a paragraph related to a tourist attraction in El Salvador.

Esta vez vamos a poner en en práctica cada tema que heos aprendido para escribir un párrafo relacionado a una atracción turística en El Salvador.

How do we write a paragraph?
First, you have to know that a paragraph is just a group of sentences joined by conectors.

Pay attention to the next example:

CONCEPCION DE ATACO

Concepcion de Ataco is a wonderful place located in Ahuachapan. In this city you can find a lot of nice things. The most popular place in Ataco is the park located at the center of the city. You can buy tasty food and you can visit the beautiful church of the city. Have you visited the city of Ataco? It is a wonderful place, you will not be disappointed.

Now, let's see how this paragraph is written:

Concepcion de Ataco is a wonderful place located in Ahuachapan (Simple present)
In this city, (dependent clause) 
you can find a lot of nice things. (Simple present)
The most popular place in Ataco (Superlative/Independent clasue) 
is the park located at the center of the city. (dependent clause) 
You can buy tasty food (Independent clause) 
and (connector) 
you can visit the beautiful chuch of the city  (Independent clasue)
Have you visited  the city of Ataco? (Present perfect)
It is a wonderful place (Simple present)
You will not be disappointed (Simple future)

*Write a paragraph related to a tourist atraction in El Salvador, try to write a 5 lines paragraph. After that, separate sentence by sentence the paragraph that you have written. (As the example of the paragraph talking about Concepcion de Ataco)

*Escribe un párrafo relacionado a una atracción turística en El Salvador, trata de escribir un párrafo de 5 líneas. Después de eso, separa oración por oración el párrafo que has escrito (Como el ejemplo del párrafo que habla sobre Concepción de Ataco)
